A really interesting sale reported on Sedo’s front page - Las Vegas sold for $30,000 US. On first impression it sounds like an amazing sale by the seller to a naive buyer - but I believe it’s not that simple.
The Chinese city of Macau has become somewhat of a gambler’s paradise in recent times - dubbed the Las Vegas of Asia. According to AsiaNews gambling in Macau is a $5 billion industry. What’s 30k to an Asia gambling tycoon looking to develop a casino with the name “Las Vegas” in Macau in the near future?
According to a thread on DNForum.com the seller purchased the domain name via Pool.com’s auctions for $4,350 on June-21-2008. Selling it on for $30,000 is quite a nice flip - and a good purchase by a potential casino development company perhaps?
Who says the domain industry is stagnating?
